Workshops

We are excited to be offering three tracks of classes this year! Please read below for level placement descriptions. Specific workshop topics will be posted closer to the event.

Beginner-Intermediate Level Workshops
with Eric & Edina

Workshop 1 – Swing Out Session
Deep dive into the swing out and exploring the movements within.

Workshop 2 – Go with the Flow
A sampling of satisfying shapes to develop your momentum and flow with your partner.

Workshop 3 – One Good Turn Deserves Another
Refining directional turns in your Lindy Hop.

These workshops are for dancers looking to strengthen their rhythmic foundations, build Lindy Hop vocabulary, and begin exploring creativity in partnership.

If you find smoothly switching between 8-count, 6-count and Charleston footwork to be a little tricky, or are not familiar with some of those footwork rhythms and the foundational shapes that go with them, this track is for you! If you find maintaining consistent triple steps to be tricky, this track is for you!

How long you have been dancing is not a true indicator, but dancers who are 2-8 months into their Lindy Hop and swing dancing journey may find the pacing of these workshops appropriate. If you are someone ready to enthusiastically take on a challenge, you may join this workshop level with no prior Lindy Hop experience.

Intermediate-Advanced Level Workshops
with LaTasha & AJ

Workshop 1 – Advanced Swing Out Technique

Workshop 2 – Fancy Feet

Workshop 3 – Vernacular Jazz in Lindy Hop

Workshop 4 – Listening in Partnership

These workshops are for dancers who are comfortable with foundational Lindy Hop movement including
-swing outs
-lindy circles
-promenades
-tuck turns
-passes
and can comfortably switch between basic 8-count, 6-count, and charleston footwork rhythms.

Some solo jazz vocabulary is beneficial but not required.

Dancers in this track looking to work on fundamentals may elect to take Beg-Int Workshops on Saturday if they wish. Dancers who do not display proficiency in basic 8 and 6-count footwork combinations may be asked to take Saturday Beg-Int Track to solidify foundations.

If you are local to Eugene and looking for beginner level Lindy Hop class, please check out our monthly series classes at Track Town Swing that run September-June.

Chorus Line Performance Track
with Ana Lisa & Nika

We are excited to be introducing a new class track! Original chorus line dancers played a huge part in passing on the solo jazz steps we have today. We can’t wait to dig into clips and chat about the dancers we love.

This class track includes a performance of our group choreography at the Saturday evening dance to live music. This is a great track for folks looking to improve their vernacular jazz and performance confidence.

Prior solo jazz experience is required. All gender expressions welcome!
